Locks of Love

I have grown up most of my life with long hair.  In fact I really do not like having short hair and I am not the kind of girl who you will see spending much time on my hair or make up.  I am natural and earthy.  I try to avoid chemicals in the foods we eat, in our toiletries, and in our household products.  I like to produce our own food-- in fact I plan to do more of this in the future.  So like I said I am a long hair kind of girl it just fits my lifestyle.  However, today my hair is shorter though than it was yesterday.  I have had hair long enough to almost sit on it for a while now and I had no plans of cutting it.  No plans that is until my friend Vicky was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.  I have watched Vicky walk through this trial trusting in the Lord and never waivering.  She bravely and boldly faced every step in her journey with faith and courage despite many unpleasant surprises along the way.  She has been an inspiration to me so I decided to cut my hair and donate it to Locks of Love.  For those who are not familiar with Locks of Love they take donated hair and make wigs for cancer patients who have lost their hair.  You can check out thier website here.  You can also follow my friend Vicky's journey on her blog here.

I had Caleb take some before and after pictures.

This is me after having 12 inches of hair cut

Here are the ponytails I am sending in to Locks of Love in honor of my friend Vicky.

This adventure turned out to be more fun than I thought it would be and something I think I will do again.  Since having long hair is my thing I think I will grow it out again and donate again.
